Weather Underground (1975): call for community organizing

1 11 2008

Zombie has dug up another interesting commie artifact: Osawatomie: the Weather Underground newspaper. (Ignore what Zombie writes about Logo similarity, concentrate on the text of Osawatomie.)

It gives an insight into how Ayers, Dohrn, and the rest of the Weather Underground transitioned from revolutionary terrorism to a slow process of undermining the system from inside.

Much of Osawatomie, which was written at a time when the Dohrn-Ayers wing of the Weather Underground was transitioning from terrorism to “working from the inside” for revolution, concerns itself with the need to encourage “organizers” who will work in “communities” and use “audacity” to bring about “socialism” in America.

Ayers and Dohrn never changed their goals, just the means. Being a professor of education in charge of well funded “educational” programs is more efficient than blowing up some buildings. Especially if you are patient.

Obama advocated a 15% cut in military spending – so here you have one of the steps “Wealth should be taken from the Pentagon budget..”.

UPDATE: Streetlog has posted a PDF of Osawatomie issue No.2.
